Protect yourself from car rental companies while renting a car. Ask any staff member or employee to examine the copy like dents, scratches, minor damages before you choose to own a car from the lot.
Use your smart phone or camera and take photos of your rental car inside and outside before renting it. But, make sure the photos are stamped with time as now a days many digital cameras and smart phones are programmed to do this.
Check your insurance whether damage to a rental is done under your policy. Some credit cards also cover rentals, although it can be costly but it may get you off the hook.
Also, before going for car rentals, get an online car insurance quotes from the nearest car insurance company.

Good advice and it's true! It'll be wise if you get an online car insurance quotes from the insurance company prior to renting a car.
