Federal government wants to install back-up cameras in all the new vehicles starting from 2014 and is informed to all the automakers in the market. This plan is likely to get some level of support from car manufacturers and even from insurance industry and other analysts keeping auto safety and driving issues in mind.

More over, NHTSA said that children and elderly are mostly involved as victims. The camera systems displays motorists what is behind them through a video display on the dashboard. It idicates bell or alarm that makes the driver alert. These systems are also available on some news models but at an expensive price.

The NHTSA proposal will be included in the vehicles, said General Motors Company (the largest U.S automaker), Ford Motor Company and Toyota Motor Company is also adopting the technology.
The numbers say that, the automaker's will be equipped with the systems as required and proposed:
10% - by September 2012
40% - by September 2013
